Advisory Council

David Carr, MD

  • Serves as clinical director for the Divison of Geriatrics and Nutritional Science at Washington University School of Medicine; clinician in the Memory Diagnostic Center, which is the treatment arm for dementia outpatient care in the Department of Neurology; is medical director at Parc Provence, a state-of-the-art dementia care facility, located in west St. Louis county.  Carr has a passion for teaching, and is the geriatric fellowship director and coordinator for the internal medicine residency geriatric rotation that participates in the education of older adult medicine for physician trainees.

Lewis C. Chartock, PhD

  • Serves as President/CEO of MERS/ Goodwill, a non-profit agency that provides for the vocational needs of people with disabilities and disadvantages.  MERS/Goodwill is the largest social service agency in greater St. Louis area.

George T. Grossberg, MD

  • Serves as Director of Geriatric Psychiatry at the St. Louis University School of Medicine. He is an international expert in Alzheimer’s disease and psychotropic medications, therapies and educational interventions administered to treat Alzheimer’s disease. He sits on community Advisory Councils, including serving for the Advisory Council of the JCC Adult Day Services Program.

Marylen Mann

  • Serves as Chairman of the Board of directors of OASIS.   Marylen  co-founded OASIS in 1982 in St. Louis, Missouri to provide a resource for mature adults who wanted to continue to be active, productive members of the community. Today, OASIS is the largest educational and volunteer service program for mature adults nationwide.

Steve Miller, MD

  • President, Infusion Pharmacies & Chief Medical Officer CuraScript. Joined Express Scripts in 2005 as Vice President of Research and Product Development. From 1999-2005, served as Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, guiding the hospital to a significant improvement in overall performance.

John C. Morris, MD

  • Serves at Washington University School of Medicine as Director and Principal Investigator for the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) and a complimentary Program Project entitled Healthy Aging and Senile Dementia (HASD). Dr. Morris also leads the Washington University Center for Aging.

Howard Oppenheimer

  • Serves as Executive Vice President of Delmar Gardens Enterprises, Inc. Delmar Gardens is one of the largest healthcare providers and facility owners in Missouri, with holdings nationwide. In the St. Louis area, Delmar Gardens operate skilled care facilities, assisted living facilities and independent retirement communities. Delmar Gardens manages its own home health agency.  Howard serves on numerous community boards.

William A. Peck, MD

  • Serves as the Director at the Center for Health Policy at Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, Missouri. Prior to his retirement in June 2003, Dr. Peck held the position of Dean of Washington University School of Medicine (1989-2003).  In that capacity, Dr. Peck led the School of Medicine to its current position as the second highest- ranked medical the school in the nation.

Maurice B. Pickard, MD

  • Served in the northern suburbs of Chicago as Chief of Staff at Lake Forest Hospital, and practiced at both Lake Forest and Highland Park Hospitals for thirty-five years. He is a premier doctor who states he proudly participated in a noble profession. While he intends to retire in June 2005, he’ll continue to serve on the Chicago Council for Jewish Elderly (CJE).

Senator Betty Sims

  • Represented the 24th District,   1994 - 2002  in the Missouri Senate where she served as the Assistant Majority Floor Leader and Chairman of the Aging, Families and Mental Health Committee. She continues her involvement in Jefferson City in senior health care issues in the Division of Health and Human Services.
